A man suspected of a high-profile double murder in Kazakhstan's Atyrau region has been apprehended in Indonesia. The suspect was detained by officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, working with foreign colleagues, in the village of Senaru on the island of Lombok.
The individual is suspected of committing a particularly serious crime under Part 2 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan. His former wife, who had previously been declared missing and was on an international wanted list, was also located with him.
According to the investigation, in November 2025, the suspect, acting deliberately out of mercenary motives and due to prolonged domestic conflicts, premeditated and committed the murder of two individuals in Atyrau region. After committing the crime to conceal evidence, he buried the bodies under an outbuilding, destroyed traces of blood, and seized the victims' property and money.
The issue of their deportation to Kazakhstan is currently being resolved.

The police department for Atyrau region clarified that the woman found in Indonesia is one of the daughters of the deceased. Her brother and sister remain at large and are still wanted.
The bodies of 66-year-old Maksot Karabalin and his 64-year-old wife Nasip Uteshkaliyeva were discovered under a shed on January 6 in the village of Zhangeldin. The couple had three children: two daughters aged 35 and 30, and a 32-year-old son. The spouses and two of their children (the 35-year-old daughter and 32-year-old son) were officially declared wanted on December 25, 2025, although relatives state contact was lost back in November.
Notably, their youngest daughter—30-year-old Akbayan Mukangaliyeva—was only declared wanted on January 7. This raised public questions as her husband is now considered a prime suspect in her parents' murders.
