The investigation into the murder of former Kazakh judge Aigul Sailybayeva has been suspended due to the ongoing search for suspects. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sanzhar Adilov.

During a briefing at the Mazhilis, the deputy minister was asked about the possible extradition to Kazakhstan of the victim's husband, Alexander Dontsov. He and his mother have been declared wanted as suspects in the case.

"Currently, as you know, the investigation in this criminal case has been suspended due to them being declared wanted," Adilov responded. "Active correspondence is underway with the Russian side. Regarding interaction with other countries specifically, this falls exclusively within the competence of the General Prosecutor's Office. Therefore, further decisions will be made by the authorized body, namely the General Prosecutor's Office."

The search for a missing Kazakh citizen in Germany has ended in tragedy. Aigul Sailybayeva, a former judge, was reported missing on June 4, 2024, after her family lost contact with her.

Concerns grew when her husband reportedly could not provide an explanation for her disappearance. Following an extensive search lasting over a week, police and volunteers made a grim discovery near a local lake: a woman's remains were found inside a suitcase.

Forensic examination has confirmed the identity of the deceased as Aigul Sailybayeva. Reports also indicate that she was pregnant at the time of her death.

According to information from the family's lawyer, Aigul met her future husband, Alexander Dontsov, in the United Kingdom in 2015. The couple later married and had a daughter.

Over time, conflicts began to arise within the family. The lawyer stated that Aigul's relationship with her mother-in-law, Natalya Dontsova, was particularly difficult. It is reported that Natalya Dontsova insisted on the family relocating to Germany.

According to the family's lawyer, events may have unfolded differently on June 4th. The attorney suggests that Aigul allegedly discovered her husband was secretly obtaining Russian citizenship for their daughter. A confrontation ensued, during which he is said to have pushed her. It is further claimed that the mother-in-law then became involved in the altercation.

The investigation reportedly uncovered traces of blood that had been scrubbed, along with a potential murder weapon bearing Natalia Dontsova's fingerprints at the couple's residence. According to legal counsel, case documents suggest an attempt may have been made to dismember the victim's body, with the remains allegedly stored in a freezer for approximately a week and a half.

German authorities have initiated a criminal murder investigation. A court in Darmstadt has formally designated Natalia Dontsova as a suspect in the case. An arrest warrant for her has been issued, valid in Germany and across other European countries.

On November 13, 2025, authorities in Kazakhstan announced that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had launched a criminal investigation into the torture of Aigul Sailybayeva. The victim's husband and mother-in-law were subsequently declared wanted by Kazakh law enforcement.

Months later, on February 2, 2026, Russia's Investigative Committee ordered an inquiry to determine whether the two suspects, Alexander and Natalya Dontsov, were residing in Moscow. Media reports indicated that both individuals could potentially be living in the Russian capital.
