President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has cast his vote in the nationwide referendum on adopting a new Constitution. The head of state participated at polling station No. 51, located in the Palace of Schoolchildren.

Following his vote, the President held a briefing for representatives of domestic and foreign media. Addressing journalists, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the exceptional importance of this referendum for the country's future development.

"I congratulate all of you, because today is a fateful day for our country," stated the Head of State. "The Constitution is truly a historical document that guarantees the rights and freedoms of our citizens, therefore it has exceptional significance. The new Constitution affirms the territorial integrity, Independence and Sovereignty of our country."

Tokayev noted that the Constitution adopted in 1995 had played its role, with the nation living under that document for 35 years. However, he stressed that time does not stand still and the moment has come to adopt a new Fundamental Law.

"I also actively participated in its preparation, personally proposed formulations for the preamble of the Constitution and a number of other norms," he added. "I am confident that the new Fundamental Law will serve for the benefit of the country and its future."

The President then answered several questions concerning the main goals and objectives of the constitutional reform, as well as aspects of international affairs.

The referendum voting is taking place across Kazakhstan on March 15 from 07:00 to 20:00 local time, unless specific territorial commissions have established different hours for citizens' convenience.

The ballot contains one question: "Do you accept the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft of which was published in mass media on February 12, 2026?"
