The Government of Kazakhstan has approved the signing of an investment agreement for the construction of a large wood processing plant in the North Kazakhstan region. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
The project, with a total value of 70 billion tenge, is scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2028. Its launch is expected to create at least 160 permanent jobs, expand domestic timber processing, increase the output of finished products, and strengthen the industrial potential of the region.
The plant's production capacity is projected to reach approximately 600 cubic meters of particleboard (chipboard) and 20 million square meters of laminated particleboard per year.
The agreement mandates the use of goods, raw materials, works, and services from Kazakhstani producers. The investor is obligated to direct no less than 50% of finished products to the domestic market. Once the enterprise reaches 80% of its design capacity, exports of domestic finished products are expected to reach up to 60 thousand cubic meters annually.
The document also includes specific obligations for social support in the region. Furthermore, the investor commits to implementing a system for continuous personnel training and ensuring employee skills development.
The project's realization will contribute to developing the wood processing industry, increasing local content, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening Kazakhstan's manufacturing export potential.
