Political Scientist Satpayev Condemns Russian Blogger's Calls for War and Ethnic Division

Political analyst Dosym Satpayev has issued a sharp condemnation of statements made by Russian blogger Dmitry Verkhoturov, who denied the tragedy of the Kazakh famine known as "Asharshylyk" and threatened Kazakhstan with an armed conflict modeled on the war in Ukraine. In his remarks, Verkhoturov essentially labeled Kazakhs as "second-class," a notion Satpayev characterized as a dangerous cocktail of criminal incitement.
Satpayev described the blogger's interview as containing "the full criminal set: a call to war, to genocide, to dividing people into classes and types, to chauvinism and xenophobia." He noted the symbolic timing of the provocative interview's release on the four-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. According to Satpayev, such informational provocations clearly reveal who the aggressor is and who is the victim, highlighting those who carry imperial hatred versus those defending their independence and territorial integrity.
"It serves as an example to others that one must always perceive as a threat those who begin by denying and rewriting your history, and a little later are already preparing to take your future by force," Satpayev wrote.
In his controversial interview, Verkhoturov claimed that discussing the famine is dangerous for Kazakhstan "from the point of view of statehood existence." He suggested that further statements and debates on this topic could lead to an armed conflict even more severe than the one in Ukraine.
The incident has prompted calls for an official response. Political scientist Gaziz Abishev stated he is awaiting a reaction from the Kremlin regarding these scandalous statements.
