Two suspects connected to the disappearance and murder of a family in Kazakhstan's Atyrau region have been apprehended in Indonesia. The detention was carried out through a joint operation involving Kazakh police and Interpol, with Indonesian law enforcement providing assistance.
The case involves the disappearance of four family members from the village of Zhangeldin. The bodies of the elderly couple, 66-year-old Maksot Karabalin and his 64-year-old wife Nasip Uteshkalieva, were discovered on January 6th. Their two adult children, a 35-year-old daughter named Miramgul and a 32-year-old son named Nauryz, remain missing and are subjects of an ongoing search.

A special investigative team continues to work in the Atyrau region. The investigation revealed that relatives reported the family missing on December 25th after losing contact with them since November. The couple, who had third-group disabilities and worked in animal husbandry, were found deceased on their own property. They were buried in their home village on January 8th.
Authorities have clarified that the family's youngest daughter and her husband are currently abroad. No missing persons report was filed for them, but police have initiated verification procedures. The couple has five children who are reportedly under the care of relatives from the husband's side.
Earlier in January, police had officially declared a search for a 29-year-old resident of the Makhambet district as a key suspect. While authorities did not confirm his identity at the time, relatives publicly expressed suspicion towards their son-in-law, alleging he was the last person seen with the missing siblings.
The process for extraditing the detained suspects from Indonesia to Kazakhstan is currently being finalized.
