More than 350 Iranian academics, civil society activists, and political personalities representing a wide range of views have endorsed a collective statement opposing military conflict. The document, titled "No to War and Aggression Against Iran," is now being opened for public support through an online petition.

The signatories characterize war as the ultimate political catastrophe, cautioning that it would result in widespread civilian casualties, devastation of infrastructure, and increased poverty. They argue that such a conflict would only intensify the nation's existing challenges.

"War brings death and destruction, creates mourning, ruins the foundations of society, impoverishes people, and sacrifices the innocent," the declaration states. "It fosters violence, worsens problems, and blocks the path toward development, democracy, justice, and prosperity for Iran."

The statement explicitly names Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and hardline elements in Washington as parties actively pursuing Iran's destruction through military threats, sanctions, and potential action. It also recalls lives lost during unrest in January 2026, asserting that no objective justifies further Iranian deaths or harm to the nation.

The group emphasizes that despite internal political differences, they present a unified front against external aggression. "Without any hesitation or exception, we oppose aggression against Iran," the text declares. "In the face of any attack, we will stand with our country. We call on our fellow citizens and all influential individuals to raise their voices clearly against war."

This public campaign emerges during a period of escalating regional military tensions. The United States has recently bolstered its forces in West Asia, while President Donald Trump has repeatedly issued threats of military action against Iran. Iranian officials have vowed a decisive response to any act of aggression.
