Kazakhstan Presents Transport Strategy at UN Forum in Geneva

The 88th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee is currently underway in Geneva. A delegation from Kazakhstan, led by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev and supported by the country's Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, is actively participating in the high-level forum.
The event has gathered leadership from the UNECE, along with ministers and deputy ministers of transport and representatives of industry organizations from across the globe.
During the ministerial segment titled "Fostering Innovation for Future Inland Transport," Vice Minister Lastayev delivered a keynote address. He highlighted Kazakhstan's strategic role in ensuring the resilience of global supply chains and presented key achievements in national transport infrastructure development. His report placed special emphasis on ongoing digital transformation initiatives and the implementation of autonomous vehicle technologies.
On the sidelines of the UN meeting, Vice Minister Lastayev held a bilateral discussion with Dmitry Mariyasin, Deputy Executive Secretary of UNECE. The talks focused on current areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport and the United Nations. Furthermore, meetings were conducted with representatives from several major international organizations, including the International Road Transport Union (IRU), TRACECA, as well as one of the world's largest logistics firms—Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and its air cargo division, MSC Air Cargo.
Overall, forum participants concluded that the session reaffirmed a strong commitment to expanding partnerships between Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. The role of the Inland Transport Committee was recognized as a unique global platform for fostering collaboration in this vital sector.
