Kazakhstan to Pay Survivor Benefits After Deadly Cafe Explosion in Shchuchinsk

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan has expressed its deepest and most sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the explosion and fire at a public catering establishment in Shchuchinsk.

Recall that an explosion of a gas-air mixture followed by a fire occurred in a single-story cafe attached to a residential building in Shchuchinsk, Burabay District. According to the latest information, the number of victims has risen to 28 people. Seven people died, 10 are in intensive care, and the rest are receiving necessary medical assistance.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has established an interdepartmental commission. It includes representatives from relevant ministries, state bodies, and the akimat (administration) of the Akmola region. The commission is investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.

State social survivor benefits from the republican budget will be assigned to the families of the deceased who had dependent non-working family members. Furthermore, burial allowances from the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund are also provided.

Employees of the territorial department of the Committee for Regulation and Control in Social Protection will provide each family with necessary advisory support for prompt processing of due social payments.
