US Blockade of Iranian Ports Holds Firm in First 24 Hours
@TengriNews
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that its naval blockade of Iranian ports remained unbroken during its first full day of enforcement. According to an official statement, no vessel successfully breached the American cordon.
The operation involves a significant military presence, including over 10,000 sailors, marines, and airmen supported by more than a dozen warships and dozens of aircraft. Their mission is to enforce a comprehensive blockade on maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
"During the initial 24-hour period, no vessel managed to penetrate the American blockade," CENTCOM stated. The command confirmed that six merchant ships complied with orders from US forces, turning around and returning to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.
Officials emphasized that the blockade is being applied impartially to all vessels from every nation attempting to enter or leave the designated Iranian coastal areas. The measure is distinct from general traffic through the critical Strait of Hormuz.
"US forces continue to ensure freedom of navigation for all ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian ports and back," the command clarified, indicating that normal commercial routes for other destinations remain unaffected.
The military operation commenced on April 13 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (7:00 PM Astana time), acting on an executive order issued by US President Donald Trump. The move represents a significant escalation in maritime pressure on Iran.
