President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has presented awards to Mikhail Shaydorov, the champion of the XXV Winter Olympic Games, and his coaching team. The ceremony took place at the Akorda residence.

In his address, President Tokayev emphasized that this Olympics was an exceptional event for the entire nation. "Thanks to Mikhail Shaydorov's triumph in figure skating, winning gold, the sky-blue flag of Kazakhstan was raised high above the Olympic arena," said the Head of State. He congratulated and thanked Shaydorov personally, while also expressing gratitude to his father, coach, and all those present at Akorda.

The President highlighted that Mikhail's global recognition is a direct result of diligent work and determination. "Under your guidance, he has become an outstanding athlete and has been able to fully reveal his talent," Tokayev noted.

He stated that the entire country is proud of Mikhail Shaydorov, who has become a true role model for young people. "Becoming an Olympic champion means accepting a challenge and being ready to go through the most difficult distance. Only those who work tirelessly and demonstrate iron discipline achieve high results," underscored the President.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added that Shaydorov's victory is a monumental achievement in the annals of Kazakhstani sports. He outlined three key aspects of its significance: it is a historic medal that Kazakhstani citizens have awaited for 32 years; it is the first Olympic gold won by domestic figure skaters; and it demonstrated to the world that Kazakhstan possesses bright talents who worthily continue the glorious path of renowned figure skater Denis Ten.

"Mikhail Shaydorov's brilliant performance at the Olympics is a success of historical importance. This is a real triumph created by our compatriot on the ice of Cortina d'Ampezzo," said Tokayev. He attributed this victory to incredibly persistent work, self-belief, and love for such a complex sport as figure skating.

The President also affirmed that creating conditions for developing both mass participation and professional sports remains a priority of state policy.
