Kazakhstan has reported a significant expansion in its agricultural exports, driven by a second consecutive year of record-breaking grain harvests. The country's strategic focus on modernizing its agribusiness sector and securing new international markets is yielding substantial results.

The 2025 harvest yielded nearly 26 million tons of grain, with wheat accounting for 19.3 million tons of that total. This robust production has directly fueled a dramatic increase in foreign shipments. Over the 2024/2025 marketing year, combined exports of grain and flour, measured in grain equivalent, reached 15.3 million tons—a remarkable 60% jump compared to the previous period.

This export momentum continues into the current season. Shipments of new-crop grain and flour have already hit 8.5 million tons, marking a 14% increase over the same timeframe last year.

While maintaining its strong position in traditional Central Asian markets like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan, Kazakhstan is actively diversifying its export destinations. Recent shipments have reached Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates, while trade with Iran, Azerbaijan, and Georgia has been resumed. The country also supplies high-quality Durum and Hi-Pro wheat to European markets.

A notable success story is the trade with China; exports of feed flour there soared to 2.9 million tons in 2025, which is 2.4 times higher than the previous year's volume.

These achievements have solidified Kazakhstan's standing on the global stage. The nation now ranks as the world's 10th largest exporter of wheat and the 9th largest for barley. Furthermore, it remains a leading global flour exporter, with production exceeding 3 million tons and annual exports reaching 1.8 million tons.

Government policy continues to support this growth trajectory. A key subsidy mechanism for grain export transportation has been extended until September 2026, ensuring logistical support for producers.

The broader picture for Kazakh agricultural exports is equally positive. Overall agro-industrial product exports have grown by a factor of 1.8 over five years, reaching $7 billion USD in 2025—a yearly increase of nearly 37%. Processed goods now constitute more than half (51.4%) of all agro-industrial exports as Kazakh products reach consumers in over 72 countries worldwide.
