Kazakhstan and Georgia Strengthen Police Cooperation with New Memorandum

High-level talks between the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Georgia, Yerzhan Sadenov and Gela Geladze, took place in Astana. The visit also included a meeting where the Georgian minister was received by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The discussions focused on current issues of bilateral cooperation in maintaining law and order and combating crime. Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the partnership between the two nations.

The negotiations continued at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan. The parties reviewed the current state and future prospects for interaction between their law enforcement agencies. They confirmed their readiness to deepen practical cooperation in key areas, including combating organized crime, drug trafficking, and cybercrime. Other priorities include the search for and extradition of criminals, exchange of operational information, countering illegal migration, and developing departmental education and personnel training systems.

As a result of the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. The document is aimed at expanding coordination, sharing experience, and fostering institutional development of the partnership between the two ministries.

The practical part of the program involved familiarizing the Georgian delegation with the infrastructure and technologies used by Kazakh police. At the Ministry's Operational Control Center, they were shown intelligent video monitoring systems, analytical platforms, modern tools for coordinating police forces, as well as samples of modern police equipment and digital solutions used to ensure public safety. The Georgian side expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan's experience in digital transformation within its internal affairs bodies.

During visits to specialized MIA units, the delegation also learned about the activities of public service centers.

Special attention was paid to personnel training. At the Academy of Management under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Georgian representatives familiarized themselves with the system of departmental education and professional training for police officers. The delegation noted Kazakhstan's ongoing efforts to develop police education and strengthen its academic base. They expressed interest in studying Kazakh experience in training and professional development for law enforcement personnel.

The negotiations confirmed a high level of professional trust and mutual interest between Kazakhstan and Georgia in further expanding practical cooperation.
