Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry to Deploy Digital Twins and Oil Tracking in 2026

@МЭ РК
The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has summarized the results of the digital transformation of the country's fuel and energy sector for 2025 and outlined its strategic priorities for the coming year. The plans were announced during an expanded board meeting of the ministry.
In 2025, as part of a state policy for digital transformation, the ministry implemented several key services. These include a unified digital system for monitoring preparations for the heating season, automated approval processes for power plant tariffs, and tools for transparent distribution of oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The established base of digital solutions will be systematically scaled up and put into full industrial operation.
With 2026 declared as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan, a central focus will be creating a unified digital management circuit for the entire energy sector under the "Digital Qazaqstan" strategy.
This ambitious initiative involves developing digital twins of critical electricity, oil, and gas infrastructure. Furthermore, it includes implementing vertical online monitoring of operational processes and establishing end-to-end traceability systems for crude oil and petroleum products from extraction to final consumer.
The ministry plans to develop an integrated master plan for the fuel and energy complex based on these digital models. This approach aims to synchronize different industry segments, accurately forecast demand, assess investment risks with greater precision, and enhance cybersecurity for technological systems.
The ultimate goal of this comprehensive digital overhaul is to transition both the Ministry itself and industry players to proactive, data-driven management. Officials expect this shift to result in significantly higher transparency across the sector, a reduction in accidents and downtime, and a substantial boost in the operational efficiency of Kazakhstan's entire energy system.
