Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry to Launch Digital Twins and Oil Tracking in 2026

@МЭ РК
At an expanded board meeting, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy summarized the results of the large-scale digital transformation of the country's fuel and energy sector for 2025 and outlined strategic priorities for 2026, designated as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
Throughout 2025, as part of the state policy on digital transformation, the ministry systematically worked on digitizing key processes within the energy complex. Several priority services were implemented, including a unified digital system for monitoring preparations for the heating season, automated approval processes for power plant tariffs, and tools for transparent distribution of oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The established base of digital solutions developed under the ministry's state functions will be gradually scaled up and put into full industrial operation.
In line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's declaration of 2026 as the Year of Digitalization and AI, a key focus under the "Digital Kazakhstan" strategy will be forming a unified digital management circuit for the entire energy sector.
This ambitious process involves creating digital twins of electricity, oil, and gas infrastructure objects. It also includes implementing vertical online monitoring of operational processes and establishing end-to-end traceability for crude oil and petroleum products from extraction to final consumer.
The development of an integrated master plan for the fuel and energy complex based on these digital models will enable better synchronization between different industry segments. It will allow for more accurate demand forecasting and investment risk assessment. A special emphasis will be placed on strengthening cybersecurity for these critical technological systems.
The ultimate goal of this transformation is to shift both the Ministry itself and all industry players towards proactive, data-driven management. This approach is expected to deliver greater transparency across operations, reduce accident rates, and significantly boost the overall operational efficiency of Kazakhstan's national energy system.
