German Chancellor Seeks to Deepen Economic Ties with China During Visit

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, leading a significant business delegation, has expressed his intention to strengthen economic relations with China during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Scholz emphasized the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the two nations, despite acknowledging current challenges that need to be addressed.

"There are challenges we should discuss today, but the framework in which we operate is exceptionally favorable, and we have cooperated very well over the past decades," Scholz stated.

President Xi Jinping, who aims to position China as a reliable partner in an increasingly unpredictable global landscape, responded positively to the German leader's remarks. He underscored the growing need for strategic dialogue and mutual trust between Beijing and Berlin.

"The more turbulent and interdependent the world becomes, the more necessary it is for China and Germany to strengthen strategic communication and enhance strategic mutual trust," Xi declared.

The high-level talks focus on deepening economic links with China, which surpassed the United States last year to become Germany's largest trading partner.
