President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a letter to his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In the message, Tokayev expressed gratitude for the warm reception during his working visit to Bukhara, highlighting the "exceptional hospitality and cordiality."

The Kazakh leader emphasized that the intensive program of the visit was substantive. He assessed that the negotiations held were comparable in significance to a full-fledged official visit in terms of long-term political outcomes.

Upon returning to Astana, Tokayev stated he had given appropriate instructions for implementing the agreements reached. This includes utilizing Uzbekistan's experience in various fields. The letter separately underscored the importance of the joint environmental initiative "Clean Air."

Tokayev noted that consistent execution of the outlined tasks would further strengthen the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two nations. He also thanked the Uzbek leader for providing archival materials, acknowledging their importance for Kazakhstan's cultural and historical heritage.

The President of Kazakhstan stressed that this step reflects a respectful attitude towards shared history and helps strengthen ties between the peoples of both states.

During earlier negotiations in Bukhara, the parties focused on the need for joint work on rational water resource management and developing regional environmental projects. This includes advancing the "Clean Air" initiative in border areas.

Commenting on this initiative, Tokayev noted its relevance for major Kazakh cities as well. He pointed to Almaty's complex environmental situation, stating it ranks among the most polluted megacities. The President underscored the urgent need for measures, including increasing accountability of local authorities and businesses for environmental conditions.
