Hungary's Election Winner Demands President's Resignation

Peter Magyar, the leader of Hungary's opposition party Tisza, which won the recent parliamentary elections, has publicly called for the resignation of President Tamas Sulyok.
"I asked him to leave his post when parliament elects me as prime minister and I form a government," Magyar stated during a press conference. "If he does not do this voluntarily, we will use our powers, make the necessary constitutional amendments, and remove him from office."
The politician added that his party does not yet have its own candidate for the presidency but expressed hope to find someone who would embody the unity of the Hungarian nation.
The parliamentary elections were held on Sunday, April 12. With 98.9% of votes counted, the opposition Tisza party holds a significant lead over the ruling Fidesz party. Tisza is projected to secure 136 out of 199 seats in the legislature, while Fidesz is expected to win 57. The final results are to be confirmed by the evening of April 18.
This outcome guarantees Tisza a constitutional majority in parliament, which requires at least 133 seats. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has already conceded defeat in the elections.
