Kazakh Citizen Arrested in Almaty with 8 Kilograms of Methamphetamine

In a joint operation in Almaty, a citizen of Kazakhstan has been detained while receiving a shipment of 8 kilograms of synthetic methamphetamine.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding this incident under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code.
With court sanction, the measure of restraint "detention in custody" has been chosen for the apprehended individual.
Earlier reports from early February indicated that nearly 20 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Kazakhstan over a ten-day period.
Furthermore, since the beginning of 2026, authorities have withdrawn 325 kilograms of drugs from illicit circulation within the country. Approximately half of this total consists of synthetic substances.
