The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has issued a formal advisory to its citizens in light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The statement, published on the ministry's official website and Telegram channel on Friday, March 6, strongly recommends against all travel to the region.
The ministry cited the ongoing hostilities and the closure of airspace in most regional countries as primary reasons for its warning. "In connection with the continuation of hostilities in the Middle East, as well as the closure of airspace in most countries of the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends that citizens of Kazakhstan refrain from all types of travel to these countries until active hostilities cease and the situation is fully normalized," reads the official statement.
The list of countries covered by this advisory includes Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, and Syria.
For Kazakhstani nationals already present in these countries, the foreign ministry urged heightened personal security measures. Citizens are advised to avoid potentially dangerous areas and strictly follow instructions from local authorities. This includes immediately seeking shelter during missile threats. The ministry also emphasized maintaining contact with Kazakhstan's diplomatic missions abroad as well as with tour operators and airlines.
This advisory follows earlier reports that Kazakhstan's MFA and its overseas missions have been operating on an enhanced schedule due to the deteriorating military-political situation in the Middle East. Diplomatic posts in regional states are conducting continuous monitoring of developments while maintaining constant communication with local authorities and Kazakhstani citizens. Embassy staff are also making regular visits to airports to provide prompt consular assistance when needed.
