Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to strengthen their partnership in the tourism sector, focusing on creating a unified travel space for the region. The decision was made during a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Council between the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan's Parliament and the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis, emphasized Kazakhstan's commitment to deepening its centuries-old friendship and good neighborly relations with Uzbekistan. He highlighted that alongside cultural and educational ties, developing tourism cooperation is a key priority for both nations.

The discussions placed special focus on jointly promoting regional tourism. A concrete step forward is the signing of an Action Plan for 2026–2027. This plan is specifically designed to establish a common tourist area between the two countries and attract more international visitors.

Talgat Gazizov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Tourism, provided context on the current state of travel in Central Asia. He noted that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan already receive over half of all tourists visiting the region. Furthermore, demand for cross-border travel routes connecting the two nations continues to show strong growth.
