Kazakhstan and Russia Hold High-Level Consultations on Arms Control and Disarmament

High-level bilateral consultations on arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashikbayev, while the Russian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov. The parties discussed a wide range of pressing issues on the global security agenda. Key topics included strengthening the regime for nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, biological security, and matters related to export controls.
The diplomats also exchanged views on the main priorities for joint work within relevant multilateral frameworks. These include the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, and preparations for the upcoming Eleventh Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), scheduled for this year.
Following the talks, both sides confirmed their intention to continue substantive dialogue on these critical security issues.
