Kazakhstan and Palo Alto Networks Launch Joint Cybersecurity Initiatives

@МИИЦР РК
The strategic partnership between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks has moved into a phase of active implementation. This collaboration, initiated by a memorandum signed during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to the United States in November 2025, is now focused on key areas of the nation's digital sovereignty.
The cooperation leverages Palo Alto Networks' extensive expertise to integrate advanced international practices into Kazakhstan's information security architecture. This provides direct access to innovative solutions essential for strengthening the resilience of the country's digital infrastructure.
Specialists from government agencies and critical infrastructure facilities are now actively testing and implementing Palo Alto Networks' innovative platforms. These include Cortex XDR and XSOAR for threat detection and response, AI-powered next-generation firewalls, and modern SASE and ZTNA 2.0 architectures for secure access. The deployment of next-generation Security Operations Center (SOC) tools enables proactive threat monitoring using artificial intelligence for automated attack blocking, moving beyond simple incident response.
A significant educational component runs parallel to the technical rollout. The Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy has opened its doors to students from five leading Kazakh universities, including the Kazakh-British Technical University, SDU University, and Astana IT University. Future specialists are learning to work with cybersecurity and AI solutions, while current engineers from ministries and national companies undergo professional retraining aligned with international standards.
The partnership also facilitates international knowledge exchange. A Kazakh delegation visited Azerbaijan to study best practices for protecting state and critical facilities based on a national CERT center model. Particular attention was paid to personal data control mechanisms and GDPR standards implementation.
These insights are informing new legislative initiatives on cloud security and protecting critical digital assets from AI-generated threats. The accumulated results from pilot projects will be presented to the expert community at an Innovation Day event in Astana on April 7th, marking another step toward creating a secure digital environment in Kazakhstan protected by world-class standards.
