The strategic partnership between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks is now moving into active implementation. This collaboration, initiated by a memorandum signed during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to the United States in November 2025, is now addressing core aspects of the nation's digital sovereignty.

The cooperation leverages Palo Alto Networks' extensive expertise to integrate advanced international security practices into Kazakhstan's national infrastructure. This provides direct access to innovative solutions essential for strengthening the country's digital resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Specialists from government agencies and critical infrastructure organizations are currently testing and deploying Palo Alto Networks' cutting-edge platforms. These include Cortex XDR and XSOAR for threat detection and response, AI-powered next-generation firewalls, and modern SASE and ZTNA 2.0 architectures for secure access. The implementation aims to build next-generation Security Operations Centers (SOCs) capable of proactive threat monitoring and automated incident response using artificial intelligence.

A significant educational component runs parallel to the technical rollout. The Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy has launched programs at five leading Kazakh universities: the Kazakh-British Technical University, SDU University, Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET), Astana IT University, as well as international partners Coventry University and De Montfort University. Students are gaining hands-on experience with cybersecurity and AI solutions, while current engineers from ministries and national companies undergo professional retraining aligned with international standards.

The partnership also facilitates international knowledge exchange. A Kazakh delegation recently visited Azerbaijan to study best practices for protecting state and critical facilities based on the national CERT center's operations, with a focus on personal data control mechanisms and GDPR standards implementation.

These insights are informing new legislative initiatives concerning cloud security and protecting critical digital assets from AI-generated threats. The accumulated results from pilot projects will be presented to the expert community at the Innovation Day event in Astana on April 7, marking another step toward creating a secure digital environment in Kazakhstan that meets global standards.
