Kazakhstan and China Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties

During his official visit to China, Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliev, held a series of high-level meetings aimed at deepening bilateral economic cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding trade volumes, increasing investment flows, and removing existing barriers to commerce between the two nations.

A key meeting took place with the Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Wentao. The ministers reviewed the current state of trade and economic relations, noting a positive growth trajectory. They emphasized the strategic importance of their partnership within major international initiatives like the Belt and Road project.

The parties agreed on concrete steps to facilitate smoother trade. This includes simplifying customs procedures for Kazakh agricultural exports such as meat, grain, and oilseeds destined for the Chinese market. Both sides expressed a commitment to resolving technical and phytosanitary issues that have previously hindered trade.

Investment cooperation was another central topic. The ministers discussed promising joint projects in sectors including industry, transport, logistics, and agriculture. Special attention was given to enhancing transit potential and developing new international transport corridors that connect through Kazakhstan.

Following the talks with Minister Wang Wentao, Arman Shakkaliev also met with representatives from leading Chinese corporations like Huawei, CRRC, and China CAMC Engineering. These discussions centered on implementing existing agreements and exploring new avenues for technological partnership and industrial collaboration.

The outcomes of the visit are expected to provide a significant impetus for increasing mutual trade turnover and attracting further Chinese investment into Kazakhstan's economy. The negotiations underscored a shared vision for a more integrated and efficient economic partnership.
