The ninth meeting of the Republic of Kazakhstan – European Union Subcommittee on Customs Cooperation took place in Brussels on April 15, 2026. The event was preceded by two days of technical consultations aimed at exchanging expertise and discussing practical aspects of customs administration.

Representatives from Kazakhstan's State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance participated in the meeting. The parties reviewed current issues in bilateral cooperation, focusing on three main areas: improving customs legislation and procedures, enhancing law enforcement collaboration, and exploring mechanisms for exchanging advance information on goods and vehicles.

The preceding technical consultations allowed for detailed work on specific cooperation areas. Participants discussed practical approaches to implementing a risk management system, the activities of mobile customs groups, and best practices in utilizing customs laboratories.

The outcomes of the meetings resulted in a shared understanding on several directions for practical interaction. Concrete next steps for their implementation were also defined. Both sides confirmed the effectiveness of the established dialogue format for solving applied tasks in customs administration, sharing experience, and developing coordinated approaches.

Kazakhstan and the European Union reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening practical cooperation. The focus remains on implementing joint initiatives designed to increase the efficiency of customs administration and facilitate legitimate trade between the economic blocs.

The tenth meeting of the Subcommittee is scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan in 2027.
