Kazakhstan's Manufacturing Sector Grows 8.5% in Q1 2026

Kazakhstan's Minister of Industry and Construction, Yersain Nagaspayev, has reported significant growth in the nation's manufacturing and construction sectors for the first quarter of 2026. The data was presented during a government meeting reviewing socio-economic development results from January to March.

The manufacturing industry showed robust performance with an overall growth rate of 8.5%. Several key sectors within manufacturing demonstrated particularly strong results. The production of machinery and equipment surged by 21.9%, while output in the chemical industry increased by 2.4%. Light industry experienced exceptional expansion, growing by 51.1%.

Related industries also posted impressive figures. The production of construction materials rose by 37.1%, and the manufacture of rubber and plastic products increased by 26.9%. Minister Nagaspayev emphasized that his ministry will continue efforts to maintain stable growth rates through launching new production facilities, increasing localization levels, and actively stimulating investment activity across the country's regions.

The construction sector also maintained strong momentum, with the volume of construction work increasing by 14.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching approximately 1.2 trillion tenge.

In terms of housing, Kazakhstan commissioned 3.9 million square meters of residential space in Q1 2026, which is 3.8% higher than last year's level for the same period. Growth was recorded in 18 regions of the republic, with the most significant increases observed in Abai Region (41.3%), Karaganda Region (26%), and Shymkent (14.7%).
