President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova to review the current state and future development plans for the national healthcare system.
The minister presented a report on key medical and demographic indicators. The data shows a steady decline in both general and infant mortality rates, which have fallen by 15.3%. Kazakhstan has also achieved the World Health Organization's target of reducing premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by 25%.
Alnazarova detailed efforts to improve access to medical care, enhance primary healthcare services, expand screening programs, and modernize maternal and child health services.
A significant focus of the report was on the development of oncology services. A Proton Therapy Center has been launched at the new Astana Oncology Center.
Furthermore, two new PET/CT centers have become operational in Kyzylorda and Aktau. Expert endoscopic centers are now open in all regions of the country.
The construction of the National Scientific Oncology Center and several regional facilities has been completed.
The meeting paid special attention to measures for strengthening financial control within the compulsory social health insurance system. These measures include automating the monitoring of targeted fund usage and tightening requirements for healthcare providers.
In line with presidential directives, systematic work is underway to create a Unified Digital Healthcare Infrastructure. This involves consolidating disparate information systems into a single ecosystem known as E-Densaulyq.
The minister reported that over the past two years, investment in the pharmaceutical industry has increased 2.3-fold, while exports of pharmaceutical products have grown 1.9 times. Six investment agreements have been signed for the production of over 400 types of medicines, with a total value exceeding 316.3 billion tenge.
Alnazarova also informed about initiatives to develop human resources in the sector and provide social support for medical workers.
Following the report, President Tokayev issued several instructions aimed at improving the quality of medical services, strengthening financial discipline within the industry, refining personnel training systems, accelerating digital transformation in healthcare, and further developing domestic pharmaceutical production.
