Turkish F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes During Training Flight, Pilot Killed

A Turkish Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet crashed during a routine training flight from the 9th Main Jet Base in Balıkesir, Turkey. The pilot of the aircraft was killed in the incident.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff, around 00:50 local time on Tuesday. The Turkish Ministry of National Defense later confirmed that radio contact and radar tracking with the aircraft were lost at 00:56 local time.

Immediate search and rescue operations were launched following the loss of contact. Teams subsequently located the wreckage of the jet, confirming it had crashed. The pilot did not survive.

Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu visited the crash site to conduct inspections and later expressed his condolences to the pilot's family.

In response to the crash in the Naip area of Balıkesir, authorities temporarily closed a section of a nearby highway as emergency crews worked at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the crash has been initiated by Turkish authorities.
