Iran's Revolutionary Guards Reject Trump's Claim of War Nearing End

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a sharp rebuke to U.S. President Donald Trump's recent assertion that the war with Iran is nearly over. The Iranian military force stated unequivocally that Tehran alone will decide the conflict's duration.
"It is we who decide when the war ends. The conditions on the battlefield and the end of the war are in the hands of the Islamic Republic," read a statement disseminated by Iran's Tasnim news agency, directly countering American claims.
President Trump had told CBS News that he believed the war was "practically over," citing what he described as Iran's lack of a functional navy, communication systems, and air force. He previously suggested the conflict could conclude much faster than anticipated, claiming operations were "significantly ahead of schedule."
The White House timeline has shifted in recent weeks. In late February, Trump spoke of a four-to-five week war, while press secretary Caroline Leavitt later referenced a four-to-six week timeframe.
Reinforcing the IRGC's stance, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared on Monday, March 9, that Tehran would continue its missile strikes for "as long as necessary." He acknowledged ongoing attacks against his country but emphasized Iran's readiness to respond.
"We are fully prepared to attack them with our missiles for as long as it takes," Araghchi stated firmly.
The minister also ruled out any new negotiations with the United States. He cited Tehran's "very bitter experience" with recent talks involving Americans and stated he did not expect negotiations with Washington to be "on our agenda."
The current phase of open hostilities began in late February when U.S. And Israeli airstrikes targeted Iran, resulting in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. Iran retaliated with strikes against Israel, several Gulf states, and American assets in the region. The outbreak of war followed unsuccessful indirect talks between Washington and Tehran regarding Iran's nuclear program.
