The Iranian Red Crescent Society has issued a public warning that explosions at oil storage facilities could lead to dangerous acid rain.

"An explosion at an oil depot leads to the release of a large quantity of toxic hydrocarbon compounds, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere," stated the rescue organization. "If it begins to rain under these conditions, the precipitation becomes extremely hazardous and possesses strong acidic properties."

The rescuers emphasized that this phenomenon can cause chemical burns to the skin and inflict serious damage to the lungs.

The warning follows reports of strikes on Iran's oil infrastructure. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they had carried out initial aerial strikes targeting such facilities. An IDF representative claimed that at least 30 oil tanks in Tehran were attacked.

However, Ismail Hosseini, a representative of Iran's parliamentary energy commission, later clarified that only four fuel storage sites were hit. Authorities in Tehran asserted there is no threat to the population's fuel supply.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that at least four people were killed as a result of the strikes on the oil depots.
