In a New Year's address, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that Iran has no intention of entering into conflict with neighboring Muslim nations. He emphasized a message of fraternity and regional unity during the Nowruz holiday.
"You are our brothers, we do not intend to enter into conflict with you," Pezeshkian stated in a post on the social media platform X, directly addressing Iran's neighbors.
The President argued that any confrontation between Iran and its regional neighbors would only benefit Israel, which he described as a regime "based on state terrorism." He warned that if the international community does not decisively confront this crisis, "the flames of this fire will burn many."
Pezeshkian also called for national unity in the face of attacks from the United States and Israel. He stressed the necessity of "proudly navigating Iran out of these storms." The Iranian leader framed recent U.S. Attacks targeting Iran and its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, as a new development capable of undermining the global legal order.
The context for these statements is an ongoing military operation by the U.S. And Israel against Iran that began on February 28th. The exchange of strikes has continued for weeks, resulting in significant casualties including high-ranking Iranian officials. Israeli officials have stated their goal is to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, while Washington has threatened to destroy Iran's military capabilities.
Iran has consistently asserted its readiness to defend itself and has indicated it sees no current value in resuming negotiations under these circumstances.
