Iran Denies Launching Ballistic Missile Toward Turkey
@TengriNews
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has formally denied accusations that it launched a ballistic missile toward Turkey. In an official statement, the military command asserted its respect for the sovereignty of its neighboring and friendly nation.
The statement explicitly refuted all reports of missile launches directed at Turkish territory. This denial comes in response to earlier claims from the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
Turkish authorities had reported that a ballistic missile fired from Iran toward Turkish airspace was intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Following this incident, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that during these challenging times for the region, his country would never leave the security of its borders and airspace to chance. He emphasized that Ankara is taking all necessary measures in close coordination with NATO allies and will respond immediately when required.
This diplomatic exchange occurs against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions. The United States and Israel initiated an operation against Iran on February 28th, with stated objectives including preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Washington has issued threats targeting Iran's naval fleet and defense industry.
According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, these attacks have resulted in significant casualties. U.S. Officials have acknowledged that the operation may extend beyond initial estimates, with further strikes anticipated.
