The Iranian military has formally denied any involvement in a recent drone incident near the border with Azerbaijan. In an official statement, the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces categorically rejected accusations that its forces launched an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) towards Azerbaijani territory.

The statement emphasized Iran's respect for the sovereignty of all nations, particularly neighboring and Muslim countries. "The Islamic Republic of Iran, respecting the sovereignty of all countries, especially Muslim and neighboring states, denies the launch of a drone by its armed forces towards the Republic of Azerbaijan," military officials declared.

Furthermore, Iranian authorities suggested the incident may have been a deliberate provocation. They stated that an investigation indicated such actions were taken with the specific aim of blaming Iran. The General Staff also drew parallels to past events, alleging that similar tactics had been employed by Israel to sow discord among Muslim nations.

The denial comes in response to reports from Azerbaijan concerning drones that originated from Iranian airspace and crashed in the Nakhchivan region. According to earlier statements from Baku, one of the UAVs struck an airport building, causing damage and injuring several civilians.

In reaction to the incident, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry demanded prompt explanations and a thorough investigation from Tehran. Officials also called for measures to prevent future occurrences and underscored that Azerbaijan reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory steps.
