Iranian officials have issued a sharp and defiant response to a 48-hour ultimatum from former US President Donald Trump, dismissing his threats and promising severe retaliation.

On Saturday, April 4th, Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran had two days left to "MAKE A DEAL" or "OPEN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ" before facing a powerful attack. "Time is running out - 48 hours until all hell breaks loose on them," he wrote.

The reaction from Tehran was swift and uncompromising. Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, responded directly on social media platform X. "Iran will send you and your soldiers straight to the depths of hell - where you have always belonged," he wrote.

Senior military command representative General Ali Abdollahi Aliaabadi also condemned Trump's statement. He characterized the former president as acting in a "helpless, nervous, unbalanced, and stupid manner" after a series of defeats and accused him of threatening Iranian infrastructure and assets.

Aliaabadi warned that any new wave of US strikes would open "the gates of hell" for American forces. This is not the first such ultimatum; on the night of March 22nd, Trump issued a similar 48-hour demand for Iran to lift its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, threatening strikes on Iranian energy targets. The deadline was subsequently extended multiple times, reportedly due to ongoing negotiations.
