Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that a meeting with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is likely to take place this Thursday in Geneva. The talks aim to find a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing nuclear standoff between the two nations.

"I believe there is still a good chance for a diplomatic solution based on a win-win outcome," Araghchi said during an interview on CBS's 'Face the Nation'. He emphasized that military pressure is ineffective, stating, "There is no need for any military buildup, and military buildup cannot help it, and cannot pressure us."

The announcement comes amid a significant U.S. Military presence in waters near Iran, which includes two aircraft carriers. This deployment is part of President Donald Trump's strategy to push Tehran toward negotiating a new nuclear agreement.

Araghchi confirmed that Iran is developing its own proposal for an agreement designed to address the concerns of both sides. Expressing optimism about the upcoming meeting, he added, "I believe that when we meet, probably this Thursday in Geneva again, we can work on those elements and prepare a good text and come to a fast deal. This is my understanding. I see it quite possible."
