Kazakhstan's Agricultural Exports Hit Record $7 Billion in 2025

Kazakhstan's agricultural exports surged by 37% in 2025, reaching a historic high of seven billion US dollars. The country's gross agricultural output also grew by 5.9%, totaling 9.8 trillion tenge.

Vice-Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov highlighted that processing agricultural products has become a key driver for the sector's development. The strategic goal is not only to increase raw material production but to ensure its processing within the country, creating high-value-added goods.

"Processing forms new production chains, creates jobs in the regions, increases export potential, and ensures sustainable growth of the agrarian economy," stated Taszhurekov. "In this regard, the Head of State has set a task to bring the share of processed products to 70%."

The record harvest included 25.9 million tons of grain in net weight, with 19.3 million tons being wheat. A record harvest of oilseeds reached 4.8 million tons, alongside over one million tons of legumes.

A diversification of sown areas has altered the structure of agricultural production. Wheat sowing areas were reduced by nearly 900 thousand hectares, while areas for legumes increased by 275 thousand hectares and for oilseeds by over one million hectares.

The food production industry is developing actively alongside growing output. In 2025, food production volume amounted to 3.9 trillion tenge, an 8.1% increase from 2024. Significant growth was recorded across numerous categories: meat canned goods (+43%), cereal products (+28.7%), processed and canned fruits and vegetables (+27%), butter (+24.8%), vegetable oil (+17.4%), and pasta (+12.5%). Flour production reached 3.6 million tons.

Key processing sectors remain grain, oil and fat, meat, and dairy. About 90 enterprises process oilseeds with a total capacity exceeding five million tons; vegetable oil production in 2025 was 888.8 thousand tons.

Annually, over five million tons of grain are processed for deep conversion into products like starch, gluten, molasses, and bioethanol from three major facilities.

The meat processing industry comprises about 210 enterprises with a total capacity of roughly 450 thousand tons; the dairy sector includes around 180 enterprises with a capacity of approximately 2.7 million tons.

Deep grain processing remains a priority area for future investment until at least mid-2028 when new projects worth about $4 billion are expected to launch creating thousands more jobs while expanding product ranges into amino acids syrups vitamins etcetera .

This focus on value-added manufacturing directly boosts export potential: exports specifically from processed goods reached $3 .6bn last year up thirty-five percent from prior levels contributing significantly towards overall agro-industrial complex shipment figures which hit that landmark figure mentioned earlier .

State support plays substantial role via preferential loans at two point five percent interest rates plus investment subsidies covering up half costs depending upon project type .
