Former Uzbek Steel Plant Head Wanted Internationally for Embezzlement

Dilshod Akhmedov, the former chairman of the board of the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant (Uzmetkombinat), has been placed on an international wanted list. The notice was published on Interpol's website.
Investigative authorities have charged him under Part 3 of Article 167 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which deals with the misappropriation or embezzlement of property through theft.
Akhmedov, born in 1972, was appointed to lead Uzmetkombinat in October 2024. His tenure was short-lived; he was removed from the position in August 2025. Prior to this role, he served as Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade and as First Deputy Chairman of the plant's board.
Uzmetkombinat is a major metallurgical enterprise in Central Asia, specializing in the production of rolled steel and steel grinding balls.
The company's financial results for 2025 showed a net profit of 117 billion Uzbek soums. This represents a significant decline of 66.4% compared to the previous year's figure of 348.1 billion soums. In 2023, the plant's profit stood at 513.7 billion soums.
