Former Atyrau Police Chief Dismissed and Detained After Criminal Case
@TengriNews
The former head of the Atyrau city police department, Baktybek Isaiev, has been dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on negative grounds and placed in a temporary detention facility. This follows a planned official inspection by the Ministry of Internal Affairs which uncovered facts of unlawful actions by the city's top police official.
A criminal case has been initiated based on these findings, and a pre-trial investigation is currently underway. In accordance with established procedure, Isaiev was removed from his post for negative reasons and taken into custody. Further details are not being disclosed in the interests of the ongoing investigation.
The ministry stated that these decisions were made as part of a principled line pursued by the Minister of Internal Affairs, aimed at ensuring legality and the inevitability of accountability for any violations of service discipline or law, regardless of one's position.
Baktybek Baktygalievich Isaiev is a native of Atyrau and a graduate of the Central Asian University. He began his career in law enforcement in 2003. He was appointed to lead the Atyrau city police department in May 2024. Prior to that, he held several senior positions, including serving as deputy head of the police department in the Mangystau region.
