A former student armed with a shotgun stormed the Ahmet Koyuncu Anatolian Vocational and Technical High School in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa province, Turkey, on the morning of April 14. The assailant opened fire indiscriminately in the schoolyard before entering the building and continuing his attack on students and staff.

According to Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak, the shooting resulted in 16 injuries. The victims include 10 students, four teachers, one police officer, and a cafeteria worker. Authorities confirmed there were no fatalities from the attack.

Governor Şıldak identified the attacker as a former pupil who had attended the school only through the 9th grade before being transferred to an "open high school" program. Following a police intervention at the scene, the perpetrator died by suicide using his own weapon.

The school was swiftly evacuated by security forces. Reports indicate that some students attempted to flee by jumping from windows during the chaos.

Turkish authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The Interior Ministry stated it would examine all circumstances surrounding the attack, including security measures at educational institutions, and promised to make the findings public.
