Storm Warning Issued Across Kazakhstan: Blizzards, Black Ice, and Fog Forecast
@TengriNews
A severe weather warning has been declared for all of Kazakhstan on March 6, with meteorologists forecasting a dangerous mix of blizzards, heavy precipitation, black ice, and fog across the country's regions and major cities.
The capital city of Astana is expected to experience black ice conditions. In Almaty, intermittent fog and black ice are forecast, accompanied by a northeastern wind with gusts up to 15 meters per second. In the mountainous zones of Ile Alatau (Medeu and Bostandyk districts), heavy snowfall is expected overnight, along with fog and black ice. Wind gusts in these areas could reach 17-22 meters per second.
Shymkent will see fog at night and in the morning. The Karaganda region anticipates snow, blowing snow, and black ice overnight in its western, northern, and eastern parts; these conditions will persist into the daytime in the north and east. Fog is also expected in the east and south of the region.
In the Ulytau region, similar hazardous conditions—snow, blowing snow, and black ice—are predicted overnight in the north and east. Fog will affect eastern, southern, and central areas. The Atyrau region faces fog and black ice in its western, northern, and southern parts with strong southerly winds gusting 15-20 m/s.
The Aktobe region expects black ice overnight in its western, northern, and central areas. By daybreak precipitation (rain/snow), more black ice is forecast alongside blowing snow in the west/north with strong winds gusting 15-18 m/s.
Zhetisu region will experience intermittent fog on roads leading to icy patches particularly within its southern/eastern/central/mountainous districts where northwest winds may gust up to 20 m/s.
Kyzylorda's northern/central areas face fog while Kostanay anticipates light snow/blowing snow overnight followed by precipitation (rain/snow) during daytime hours alongside more blowing-snow/black-ice hazards; southwestern-southeastern wind shifts could bring gusts up to 20 m/s here too.
West Kazakhstan Region expects widespread black-ice overnight extending into daytime hours for its western/northern/eastern sections plus dense fogs throughout these same zones; Mangystau Region also anticipates both icy surfaces & poor visibility due to fogs especially within southern/northeastern territories during early morning hours
Turkistan Region's mountain passes face not only slippery roads but also powerful northeasterly gusts reaching speeds between fifteen-twenty metres per second overnight; Almaty Region braces itself against heavy rainfall/snowfall events particularly affecting southern/pre-mountainous/mountainous districts where similar strong northeasterlies are expected (gusts: seventeen-twenty-two metres/second).
East Kazakhstan Region prepares for snowy conditions combined with ground-level blizzards & treacherous icy surfaces across northern/eastern territories alongside widespread fogs covering western/northern/southern sections; Abai Region shares this forecast adding that southerly-southwesterly winds may gust up-to twenty metres/second over northern/central districts
North Kazakhstan Region should expect snowfall/blizzard activity throughout nighttime hours followed by light-snow/blowing-snow events come daybreak over eastern/southern territories; Pavlodar Region faces similar challenges including strong southwesterly gusts (fifteen-twenty metres/second) across multiple districts
Akmola Region anticipates nighttime snowfall/blowing-snow transitioning into light-precipitation/blizzard/black-ice hazards during daylight hours primarily affecting western/northern/eastern zones; Zhambyl Region's mountainous areas brace themselves against significant accumulations from heavy-snowfall events coupled with intermittent fogs/icy-road surfaces elsewhere
