Azerbaijan has dispatched a significant shipment of humanitarian aid to Iran. The delivery, which includes food and medical supplies, was sent following a telephone conversation between the presidents of the two nations on March 8.

The aid package consists of 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, over 4 tons of water, approximately 600 kg of tea, and about 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

This humanitarian gesture comes in the wake of a recent security incident. Earlier reports indicated that drones launched from Iranian territory crashed at an airport in the city of Nakhchivan. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the airport building was damaged and several civilians were injured as a result.

Baku demanded prompt explanations from Tehran, an investigation into the incident, and measures to prevent similar occurrences. The ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan reserves the right to take retaliatory actions.

During the March 8 phone call with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran was not involved in the drone attack on Azerbaijan and informed him that the incident would be investigated.
