Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated his country's firm stance on its sovereign right to peaceful nuclear technology. The declaration came during a recent telephone conversation with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran's position is based on its legal rights as a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). He stated that Tehran seeks only what is rightfully guaranteed to it under international agreements and will not be swayed by external pressure.

The discussion also covered recent developments in indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States. These talks, mediated by Oman, aim to reach a fair agreement concerning Iran's nuclear program, which was targeted in strikes attributed to the U.S. And Israel in June 2025.

Despite diplomatic efforts, Iranian officials accuse Washington of maintaining a provocative stance. They claim that while Iran has worked in good faith to prepare a framework for discussion, the U.S. Response has been characterized by military threats and a significant buildup of forces in regional waters.

This military posture follows what Iran describes as the collapse of foreign-backed attempts at internal destabilization. Officials have pointed to past statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump supporting opposition groups as evidence of external interference.

In his dialogue with Grossi, Araghchi affirmed Iran's continued commitment to finding a diplomatic solution. Tehran's stated position is that it is prepared to offer guarantees regarding its non-pursuit of nuclear weapons in exchange for the lifting of comprehensive U.S. Sanctions, which have had a severe impact on the nation's economy and population.
