West Kazakhstan Governor Votes in Constitutional Referendum, Urges Public Participation

The governor of West Kazakhstan region, Nariman Toregaliev, has cast his vote in the nationwide referendum on adopting a new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The head of the region voted at polling station No. 521, located at the Uralsk College of Information Technology.
"Today we are all making a decision that directly affects the fate of our country. On such a historic day, every Kazakhstani's voice is important. Citizens can come to referendum polling stations and participate in governing the country. It is necessary to make your choice," stated the regional governor.

"I am confident that every West Kazakhstani who cares about the life of the country and the fate of our generation will take part in today's voting," added Toregaliev.
The governor also noted that the public in West Kazakhstan had previously familiarized themselves with all information concerning the referendum's agenda.

A total of 446,391 people are eligible to vote in West Kazakhstan region. Across its territory, 489 referendum polling stations have been opened, with 136 located in the regional center, Uralsk.
In the first hours of voting, a good turnout was observed in West Kazakhstan region, with residents of rural areas showing particular activity. According to members of territorial commissions, a main influx is expected during the day. Citizens can cast their vote "for" or "against" the new constitution until 8:00 PM local time when all stations officially close and vote counting begins.

The integrity of voting is being monitored by independent observers. In West Kazakhstan region, 23 organizations have been accredited for observation. Their representatives will be present at polling stations throughout the day and will also attend during ballot counting.
The regional administration emphasized that a referendum is one form of direct expression by citizens and allows residents to directly decide on a crucial state issue—the renewal of Kazakhstan's Constitution.
