The 9th meeting of the Kazakhstan-European Union Subcommittee on Customs Cooperation took place in Brussels on April 15, 2026, following two days of preparatory technical consultations.

The consultations, held on April 13-14, focused on exchanging expertise and discussing practical aspects of customs administration. Key topics included the application of risk management systems, the operations of mobile customs groups, and best practices in utilizing customs laboratories. These discussions allowed for detailed work on specific cooperation areas and helped establish common positions for the main meeting.

During the formal subcommittee session, participants reviewed current issues in bilateral cooperation. The agenda covered improvements to customs legislation and procedures, enhanced collaboration in law enforcement, and the potential development of mechanisms for exchanging pre-arrival information on goods and vehicles.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding on several directions for practical interaction and defined next steps for their implementation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening practical cooperation and implementing joint initiatives aimed at boosting the efficiency of customs administration and facilitating legitimate trade.

The parties confirmed the effectiveness of the established dialogue format for solving applied tasks, sharing experience, and developing coordinated approaches. The 10th meeting of the Subcommittee is scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan in 2027.
