Kazakhstan will no longer observe August 30 as a public holiday. The date, previously celebrated as Constitution Day, will become a regular working day starting this year, with no compensatory day off provided.
The announcement was made by Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Askarbeck Yertayev. He confirmed that the change is linked to the adoption of the new Constitution on March 15.
"The new Constitution was adopted on March 15. This day will be Constitution Day. We will now celebrate on March 15," stated the minister.
When asked about the reduction in days off, Yertayev acknowledged, "Yes, we will have one less day [of rest]."
The shift in the holiday date follows a national referendum where citizens supported the new constitutional project on March 15. While the new Constitution officially comes into force on July 1, 2026, the change to the holiday calendar takes effect immediately this year.
The decision means that for the first time in years, August 30 will be an ordinary workday without any rescheduled holiday or additional compensation for workers.
