A court in the city of Konayev has ruled to return a massive 150,000-hectare land plot to state ownership. The decision came after the prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit challenging the legality of its allocation.

The land had been transferred for the construction of a residential and entertainment complex that was to include a zoological park. An unscheduled inspection by the Almaty Region Department of Land Resources Management revealed significant legal violations in how the plot was provided.

Investigators found that the allocation of this commercial land directly contradicted the provisions of the city's general development plan, violating requirements set out in Kazakhstan's Land Code. Following these findings, the local akimat (administration) was issued an order to rectify the situation.

However, authorities failed to comply with this order within the established timeframe. This inaction prompted prosecutors to take legal action and file a claim with the Konayev city court.

During court proceedings, representatives from the Department of Land Resources participated as a third party. They provided detailed explanations regarding the identified breaches of land use legislation.

The court fully upheld the prosecutor's claims in its final ruling. The judicial decision annuls the previous allocation and officially restores ownership of the vast territory to the state.
